JP Harvey ("Polly") is a Pennsylvania artist and lifetime summer resident of Nantucket Island, and she is a member of the Wyoming Valley Art League and the Nantucket Artist's Association.
Polly's mediums of choice are watercolor and pastel, she frequently blends them together in her paintings. While in New York City and in Pennsylvania, she studied with a number of successful artists and teachers. Pennsylvania watercolorist, Sue Hand, is among her teachers, as is Georgiana Cray Bart, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America.
Her landscapes reveal an intense affinity for nature, and a deep understanding of color creates dazzling spectacles of light upon her canvas. Walking the beaches, ponds, inlets and marshes are the impetus of Polly’s creations. She also collects treasures along the shoreline, from which she creates one of a kind frames, mirrors and shell paperweights.
Prior exhibitions include venues in Northeast Pennsylvania and Nantucket, and her paintings can be found in private collections across the country. Many clients want memories to last a lifetime, so she often is commissioned for this type work.
"My love of the sea, sky, grasses and the incredible natural beauty of the Nantucket landscape is the catalyst that compels me to capture light and the magnificent colors of nature's palette upon my canvas." - JP Harvey
